Block Party

In order to add to the outreach of our congregation and provide a good time for the community our church hosts a Community Block Party on Memorial Day. We had our first in 2006 and 2007 was even better!

The Village of Stamford hosts a Memorial Day Parade that ends at Veteran’s Memorial Park. With the graciousness of The National Bank of Stamford we set up in their parking lot across from the park. This proximity allows people to join in the fun and witness as soon as the public ceremonies are completed.

The equipment used is provided by the Baptist Convention of New York. We are grateful for the partnership in ministry we can share with other congregations in our area.

The crowd gathers on a beautiful sunny Memorial Day 2007

Refreshments in the form of water, lemonade, popcorn, cotton candy, brownies, rice krispie treats and cookies were enjoyed by all.

Face Painting was very popular with the kids (and some of the adults as well).

Frank Hornbeck, right, represented the Christian Farmer’s Organization by giving free walking sticks to those who would hear a presentation of the gospel from him.

The Moon Walk is a very popular item at the Block Party!

Every half hour, or so, we gave a door prize. This gave us registration information on some of the families that attended.
